Zucchini Sex
I learned something new in the Berkshires this weekend. There are male zucchini flowers and female zucchini flowers. The males provide the pollen and then drop off the vine. The females collect the pollen and then grow a zucchini.
See if you can tell which flower is which. I’m not giving any hints. I think you can handle it…

This fascinated me too, when I first learned it, and I went around showing everyone who came to visit my garden! Nature is so literal
By the way, both male and female zucchini blossoms make great fried squash blossom sandwiches!!

Too funny Tom. I hadn’t really thought about her, but it’s pretty obvious now.

I’ve never tried the fried blossoms. It always seems so decadent to eat a flower instead of a big honkin’ zucchini. But now I can fry up the male blossoms guilt-free!
